The latest Alienware Aurora R13 Gaming Desktop Review

When I was given the opportunity to review the Alienware Aurora R13, I was excited to see what new features it offered that would make it stand out from other gaming desktops. After using the system for several weeks, my overall impression of it was very positive; here’s why you should consider adding this machine to your computer collection. First, let’s take a look at its hardware specifications, then we’ll dive into how it performs in different games, and finally, we’ll touch on its price point.

The Specs

It’s clear that Alienware has not rested on its laurels when it comes to building one of our favorite gaming desktops. This machine is packed with all kinds of awesome specs, including an impressive Nvidia RTX 3070Ti 8GB graphics card, an Intel Core i7-12700KF CPU, and a 1TB SSD (with another 1TB hard drive). With room for up to 32GB DDR4 RAM (which is sadly sold separately), you won’t have any trouble playing your most demanding games. And if you need more storage space, there are plenty of USB ports to help you get set up. You can also connect two displays using HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort 1.2 connectors and play on both at once using NVIDIA Surround View technology.

The Design

Improved Airflow

The airflow on a gaming computer is one of its most important features. The airflow has to be optimized in order to keep all components cool and running smoothly. The design team at Alienware has done an excellent job with designing and creating a very functional cooling system for their newest model, the Aurora R13. I was extremely impressed with how well they were able to optimize airflow while still making it look great. They were able to create a very smooth surface that allows for maximum airflow without being too busy looking or taking away from the overall appearance. It is a perfect balance between function and form, which is something that many companies struggle with when designing cooling systems for computers such as these.

Modern, Sleek Design Aurora R13

Modern, Sleek Design

When it comes to design, you have to think about more than just how something looks. The designers at Alienware have done an excellent job with the Aurora R13 model in terms of both form and function. They have created a computer that is not only beautiful to look at but also extremely functional and convenient. It has everything you could possibly need in a computer, from portability options to storage space, while still looking sleek and modern.

Ports and Slots

The ports on a computer are very important, especially for gamers. It is important to have plenty of USB ports in order to connect all your gaming accessories, such as your mouse, keyboard, headset and controllers. The Aurora R13 has front ports that are easy to access while also being out of sight when you don’t need them. This makes it easy to use without having cords running across your desk or floor. The backports include a headphone jack three USB 3.2 Gen 1slots, and one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with Powershare technology. The rear ports can be accessed by removing an easily removable panel on the back of your computer. I really like how they have made it so simple to get to these ports and change things around if needed. They were able to create a sleek design that still allows for maximum functionality which is something I think many companies struggle with. The slots at the rear include two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, two  USB 2.0 Type A, and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A.

Gaming Performance

There are a lot of things that make a gaming desktop: graphics, speed, and processor come to mind. However, these specs don’t mean much if your screen is cramped or flimsy. The amazing quality of the Alienware Aurora R13’s 2560 x 1440 resolution allows for all games to be played at their optimal resolution, so you get a crisp picture without having to squint to see it. This device comes with an Intel i7-12700KF quad-core processor along with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070Ti graphics card, which means there isn’t much that can stop it.

Playing League of Legends with the Aurora R13

The Alienware Aurora R13 PC doesn't disappoint when you choose to play League of Legends at high settings - because it never hiccups or slows down. Its power is remarkable, allowing me to easily play at 170 to 198 frames per second while playing.

Playing Fortnite with the Aurora R13

Playing games on the Aurora R13 PC made me feel like I was playing them smoother than ever before. In my test, the Aurora 13 achieved an average of 140 frames per second while playing Fortnite.

Why would you buy it?

  • Because you're a Gamer. If you’re a gamer, you’re going to want to buy it because it has a high-end graphics card, tons of memory, and speed for playing all your games. That’s why I decided to buy it and I haven’t regretted my decision since. If you spend as much time gaming as I do, then you should definitely consider buying it too.
  • Because you're a Streamer. If you’re a streamer, you should buy it because it has plenty of memory and hard drive space for storing all your content. That way, if you get really busy and run out of storage space, you can upload it to your computer’s cloud storage.
  • Because you want a beautiful PC. The Alienware Aurora R13 is just as sleek as before, but now with a glass front so you can see what powers this machine from the inside.

Why would you NOT buy it?

  • You have a small budget. With all of its features, the Alienware Aurora R13 Gaming desktop may be out of reach for someone who has a tight budget.
  • You want a custom PC. Do not purchase an Alienware Aurora R13 Gaming Desktop unless you're okay with a pre-built PC.

Conclusion

The Alienware Aurora R13 is undoubtedly one of Dell’s greatest achievements. It comes with many improvements and new design choices, yet retains a familiar feel for anyone who has ever owned an Alienware computer before. If you have money to spend and you are looking for a great gaming experience, then I highly recommend buying one of these computers. My rating is 8/10.
